Debugging tools

Firebug is one of the most popular and powerful debugging tools for web development. It includes a console, which displays error messages, and a script window. As the name implies, it’s a tool for Firefox, but there is a version for Chrome – Chromebug.

Chrome also contains powerful tools on its own, such as the JavaScript console in the View > Developer menu. Additionally, it seems that recently the main Firebug developer has taken a job at Chrome.  Developer tools in Safari, including an errors console, can also be enabled in the browser preferences. It seems we are moving from a Firefox/Firebug-centric era for developers to a time when each main browser is attracting developers with its in-house advanced debugging tools.
